When Can You Split a Transaction?

You can split paid transactions on both synchronized and manual accounts.

  • Eligible Transactions: Only paid transactions (not expected transactions) can be split.

  • Account Types: Splitting is available on synchronized accounts and manual accounts.

How to Split a Transaction

  1. Select the Transaction: Go to the Transactions page or the Cashflow Plan and select the transaction you wish to split.

  2. Open Transaction Details: Click on the transaction to open its details panel.

  3. Initiate Split: Click on the Split button.

  4. Enter Split Details:

    • Name: Provide a name for each split piece. This is mandatory.

    • Category: Assign a category to each piece. You can leave it as "Uncategorized" if unsure.

    • Amount: Specify the amount for each split piece. Amounts can be positive or negative and must sum up to the original transaction's amount.

  5. Confirm the Split: Review your entries and confirm the split.

Note: When splitting transactions with negative amounts (e.g., reversed transactions), you don't need to add a minus "-" sign before the amounts.

Impact of Splitting a Transaction

  • Original Transaction Hidden: The original transaction is hidden from your cashflow plan and dashboards but remains stored in Agicap.

  • Creation of Split Transactions: New transactions are created based on your split details, each tagged with Split.

  • Categorization: Each split transaction can be individually categorized, enabling detailed cashflow analysis.

  • Display of Uncategorized Splits: If you leave a split transaction uncategorized, it will display the orange "Uncategorized" pre-category.

Managing Split Transactions

You can perform any action on split transactions that you can on manual paid transactions:

  • Categorize or Re-categorize: Assign or change categories for accurate reporting.

  • Edit Details: Adjust names, amounts, or other transaction details.

  • Delete Transactions: Remove split transactions if necessary.

Note: You cannot split a transaction that has already been split.

How to Cancel a Split

  1. Select a Split Transaction: Choose any of the split pieces you wish to cancel.

  2. Manage the Split: In the transaction details panel, click on Manage the split.

  3. Cancel the Split: Click on Cancel the split in the modal window.

Consequences:

  • The original transaction is restored with all its initial details.

  • The split transactions are permanently deleted.

⚠️ Important: Cancelling a split is irreversible. If you need the split transactions again, you'll have to redo the split.

💡 Tips

  • Understanding Transactions: A transaction in Agicap includes details like paid/expected status, title, type (inflow/outflow), category, bank account, amount, currency, payment date, and notes.

  • Handling Negative Amounts: When splitting a transaction with a negative amount, input the amounts as positive numbers. Agicap handles the sign automatically.

  • Activation of Split V2: If Split V2 isn't active on your account, please contact your account administrator or Agicap support to activate it.
