What Is Transaction Reversal?

Reversing a transaction is a corrective action that changes an inflow to an outflow or vice versa. This is useful for situations like reimbursements or credit notes, where the original cash flow doesn't represent the actual impact on your cash.

When Should You Reverse a Transaction?

Use transaction reversal when you have cash flows that need correction to reflect their true impact. Common scenarios include:

  • Reimbursements

  • Credit notes

By reversing these transactions, you attribute the cash flows to the correct category, keeping your forecasts accurate.
