Do you want to use the same category tree for several companies? Do you want to use the same categories in Agicap that you use in another software?

It's possible! 👍

First, we download the category template we want to use for multiple companies, then we will edit it in Excel, and then we can import it to the accounts.

Step 1: download the category template

If you want to download an existing tree structure, click on the gear wheel at the top right ⚙ and then click on Export my data 📄. For the Export type choose Categories.

You can choose to download both cash inflows and cash outflows, or just one of the two. After making your choice, click on export, and voilà, your template is ready! 🎉

Step 2: edit the tree structure in Excel

Do you want to modify the template you just downloaded before importing it again?

To do so, you just have to modify the existing rows, add or delete some.

Remember to respect the structure of the "path" that you have created.

The structure is built as follows:

The type of category (cash inflow or cash outflow) > The name of the category (e.g. Sales) > The name of the subcategory (e.g. Cereal Sales).

If you want to add a new sub-category, there must already be a line with the name of the parent category above it.

🔎 For example, I want to add a new subcategory "Leasing" to a category "General Expenses":

1. Disbursement > Overheads

2. Below, I add a line: Disbursement > Overhead > Leasing

Once you have completed your tree structure, you can proceed with the import!

Step 3: Import your categories

Just click on the gear wheel at the top right ⚙, then on Import my data 📥 and select Categories via the Import type field.

You can choose to import only your cash inflow or cash outflow categories, or both at the same time.

After making your choice, click on Import, wait for the validation message and, there you go, your categories have been imported! 🎉

❗❗❗ These categories will completely replace the existing categories in your tree. If you have already categorized transactions, they will therefore be placed in "To categorize" by default. Similarly, if you have entered objectives, these will be deleted.
