Creating categories allows you to clearly distinguish your feeds in different themes, and to have a better visibility of your cash inflow and outflow.
To create a category, simply click on the "Categories" tab at the top in the blue banner. 👌
You have the option to create two types of categories:
Parent category
Daughter category (also called sub-category)
Your categories are structured in two parts; on one side your cash inflow, where you will be able to create your major cash receipt items and on the other your cash outflow. The creation of categories and sub-categories is done in the same way for these two parts. 😁
✔ To create a parent category:
Simply click, either in the Cash inflow or Cash outflow section, on "+ Create a category" at the bottom left.
A new category is created, you can rename it. This category is automatically saved by clicking on the Enter key on your keyboard.
✔ To create a daughter category:
That is, a sub-category, click on the "+" to the right of the parent category whose subcategories you wish to create.
⚡ Tip: It is possible to create a new category from the Bank tab. To do this, go to the Bank tab and then click on the orange "To be categorized" button (or on an already categorized feed). Then click on the "+" next to the parent or daughter category where you want to add the new category.
If you want to create a parent category, enter the name of the category directly next to the magnifying glass 🔎 then validate by clicking on "create".
While categorizing bank flows, this feature is very useful when you notice you are missing a category.
Now it's up to you 💪
💡 Good to know: When you create a new category, it appears below the others. You can change the order of the categories within your category tree (via the "Categories" tab in the blue banner) to make it easier to view.
